The Dickinson Convention & Visitors Bureau announces this event as a State Championship & it is the official Signature Event. Mort Krieg, event organizer, has been involved with the Kansas City Barbeque Society and became interested in developing a ND state competition. He is partnering with the Dickinson Volunteer Fire Dept. for this event. Governor John Hoeven has issued a proclamation designating the event as an official KCBS Sanctioned State Championship Barbeque Contest, for the State of North Dakota, allowing teams to compete for the Jack Daniels World Championship Invitational Barbeque. Bobbie & Lee McWright are certified KCBS (Kansas City Barbecue Society) representatives and judges. They will be working with Mort Krieg on this first annual North Dakota State BBQ Championship.
This couple has won many grand championships - however they will not be cooking at our event this year. They will be donating their time to assist in assuring a great success.
